Job Summary
The Assistant Athletic Director, under general direction, manages and maintains programs in support of athletics. Reporting to the Executive Director for Intercollegiate Athletics & Campus Recreation, the Assistant Athletic Director for Financial Operations leads, manages, and oversees the day-to-day financial, business, human resource management and travel operations of the Texas A&M University—Kingsville Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Assistant Athletic Director-Financial Operations monitors and assists with the development of each department's, unit's and program's operating budget and ensures adherence within and across department/units/programs to all applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations (e.g. TAMUK, TAMUS, NCAAII, and Lone Star Conference); Recommends and implements sound business practices for the proper stewardship of resources while optimizing process efficiencies and effectiveness; Responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting including the construction and fulfillment of Department, TAMUK, NCAA, LSC, and Federal reporting requirements; Assists the Executive Director for Intercollegiate Athletics with special projects as assigned, including requests for proposals (RFPs), contract development, and capital projects.


Other Duties Include



  • Serves as the day-to-day financial administrator for the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation and provides management and oversight of the division's business operations and department unit, program budgets, including financial oversight of head coaches, Directors, Associate Directors and Assistant Directors

  • Provide oversight to division staff for overall financial integrity, travel, purchasing, event contracts, wage employees, and other business operations

  • Serves as the division's day-to-day liaison with the Division of Fiscal and Student Affairs

  • Provides support for event management, promotions, community engagement, and fund advancement initiatives in support of TAMUK and the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation

  • Oversees ticket, parking, and game day sales reconciliations and processes


Education and Experience


Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Experience - Two (2) years of experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • General knowledge of NCAA rules.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.

  • Oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.


Preferred Requirements



  • Master's degree in Sport Management, MBA and/or CPA;

  • Three (3) or more years of a demonstrated record of successful budget management/development and business operations;

  • Experience with EADA and NCAA reporting.

  • Experience with athletics budgeting or programming
