Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Facilities, Events & Operations


Job Description
Assumes responsibility for providing oversight to the operations of all home athletic contests and other special events hosted within the University of Hartford athletic facilities. Serves as an integral member of the Athletics emergency response team in an effort to ensure the health and safety of athletics facilities visitors. Assumes responsibility for adherence to rules and regulations governing University, America East and the NCAA, including assisting in the education process extended to alumni and the community. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.

Description of Key Responsibility:
Prepares accurate and complete event plans and timelines. Creates, maintains and ensures the completeness of events checklists to include pre-event assigments and planning through post-event wrap-up, documentation and follow up. Prepares and executes event contracts and other materials as necessary and/or appropriate.

Description of Key Responsibility:
Recruits, hires, trains and supervises 60+ temporary and student staff for events hosted in the Sports Center including, but not limited to, ushers, ticket takers, ball persons, parking attendants, greeters for visiting teams as well as other athletic contests and/or special events as necessary and/or appropriate. Oversees compliance with applicable time reporting guidelines and regulations for facilities, special events and operations staff. Provides prudent fiscal oversight to concession stand operations, ensuring proper preparation and staffing for events held in the facility. Supervises the Director of Intramurals, providing leadership and oversight to all intramural programs, including hiring referees as well as scheduling and set up of playing facilities in an effort to deliver a dynamic and positive student experience which fosters well being and aids in overall institutional retention efforts. *

Troubleshoots equipment, including bleachers, scoreboards, sound systems and lights in an effort to ensure proper functioning for all events. Oversees the timely completion of work orders submitted to the Facilities Department and vendors to correct malfunctions as necessary and/or appropriate.

Formal Education:
Bachelors Degree required.

Work Experience:
Normal office situation. High noise environment. Stockroom or warehouse.
