Job Summary
The Assistant Athletic Trainer position works within the Athletic Department's comprehensive Sports Medicine Program while ensuring the health and safety of all student-athletes. The role is based out of the Dal Ward Athletic Training Center, and will work with all varsity sports. Actual sport assignment will vary on need and staff availability. The role includes assisting in implementation of policies and programs to promote general student-athlete health and wellness, and coordinating care with medical providers. This position is pivotal in maintaining the highest standards of medical care, compliance with NCAA regulations, and ensuring a well integrated health service approach across all student-athletes. This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department's Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the BIG XII Conference and the NCAA.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
SPORTS COVERAGEInjury Prevention and Care:Collaboration with Medical Staff:
- Oversee the healthcare of assigned team(s), focusing on injury prevention, diagnosis, rehabilitation, and return-to-play protocols.
- Serve as the first responder to assigned teams' injury situations, ensuring immediate and effective care.
Medical Records and Communication:
- Collaborate with team physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare providers to meet the medical needs of your assigned team(s).
Health and Welfare Oversight:
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records for all assigned team(s).
- Track rehabilitation progress and update the coaching staff regularly on the status of injured players.
- Ensure seamless communication with the sports medicine staff, coaching staff, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, and physicians regarding injury status and participation ability.
Injury Tracking and Reporting:
- Maintain continuous communication with the Head Coach regarding all health and welfare matters of assigned student-athletes.
- Communicate with Strength and Conditioning Coaches to assess each student-athlete's health and ability to participate in training sessions.
Off-Season Conditioning:
- Ensure the maintenance of accurate, up-to-date injury records.
- Provide injury reports to the coaching staff and collaborate on decisions regarding player participation.
- Work with Sports Science department to identify data that can assist with injury prevention and athletic performance.
Health and Safety Education:
- Work with the athletic training staff to ensure NCAA-mandated coverage of all off-season conditioning sessions and non-traditional seasons.
Physician Care Coordination:
- Coordinate and administer health and safety education programs for assigned coaches and Strength and Conditioning Coaches, ensuring all personnel are informed about best practices for player health and injury prevention.
- Coordinate and manage physician care for assigned student-athletes, ensuring timely access to specialists and appropriate medical interventions when necessary.
ADMINISTRATIONLeadership:Collaboration with Medical Providers:
- Serve on designated task forces and committees within the department as needed.
- Assist in organizing Pre-participation Medical Exams for assigned team(s).
Compliance & Health Policy Adherence:
- Coordinate referrals to specialists, ensuring that student-athletes receive timely and appropriate care.
Rehabilitation & Insurance Management:
- Ensure compliance with all University, BIG XII Conference, NCAA, and other applicable regulations regarding student-athlete health, wellness, and safety.
- Uphold the principles and core values of the Athletic Department, ensuring that the department's mission is reflected in daily operations.
- Serve as the director of rehabilitation for your assigned team(s). Collaborate closely with team physicians regarding rehabilitation protocols and progress.
- Work with the Medical Office Manager on insurance, billing, and treatment planning.
STUDENT ATHLETIC TRAINER PROGRAM
- Assist in the supervision of a sports medicine intern program, which includes teaching and evaluation.
What We Can Offer
- Starting salary range is $64,500 - $70,000.

What We Require
- Bachelor's Degree in athletic training, kinesiology, health science or related fields.
- NATABOC Certified athletic trainer.
- State of Colorado Athletic Training License or eligible to obtain.
- CPR/AED Certification.
- Must be willing to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
